Year 5 Homework Menu

Each term, each of our teaching teams send home a homework menu. Each team asks their children to do a number of the tasks, depending on their age. Each child has a homework book for work to be written in, or placed in. Work can also be uploaded onto Class Dojo. Some tasks are more practical and may need adult support.
Welcome to the Year 5 home learning page. Each week, we will add a weekly overview document which will include links and resources for English, maths and spelling. We will also periodically share curriculum homework menus with ideas and links for learning opportunities for different subjects. In addition to this, the whole school resources page has a list of suggested websites and themed activity menus which are regularly uploaded to supplement the Year 5 home learning.
We would love to hear what children have been up to each week. You could send a short email explaining what the children have been learning, share pictures of their work or even include some videos. At the very least, please email every two weeks so that we know that you are safe and well. The email address is year5-ks2@ellison.staffs.sch.uk
Homework will be set on the first Thursday of each half term, to be returned every Thursday to be checked and completed by the final Thursday of each half term. Homework should be presented well. If your child is ensure of a task, please encourage them to talk to us so that we can give the relevant support. If for some reason your child cannot complete their homework, please let us know.
Any questions about the homework or anything in general, please don't hesitate to email Mr Hunter or Mr Gray. If you prefer to send homework in via email, you can find our email addresses below.

This homework activities matrix is intended to solve some of these homework woes. It includes over 100 activities which directly address the Australian Curriculum content descriptions in the following learning areas:
Homework requirements vary significantly from class to class and from school to school. We completely understand this! In light of this fact, this resource has been designed specifically for flexibility, enabling you to select as many or as few activities from the matrix as you wish each week (or, alternatively, each term). Once you have chosen the desired activities, simply copy and paste them into a text box on the homework grid of your choice and distribute to your students. In the interests of flexibility, six different grid versions are available. These include:
Year 6 homework will be handed out weekly and will consist of Maths, Grammar and Reading tasks throughout the year. Its purpose is to support the teaching of key skills and embed vocabulary and knowledge learnt in class.
Homework is carefully planned to practise key skills, develop independence and encourage children to create routines which benefit them as they move on to secondary school. Homework consists of 3 types throughout the year; reading, maths and topic.
Our maths homework focuses on the fast recall of times tables and division facts. Learning number facts by heart reduces the amount of calculating needed when solving mathematical problems. Research shows that knowing addition, subtraction, times tables and division facts, rather than having to work them out, results in more confident and efficient mathematicians. The maths homework in Phase 3 is time on TTRockstars. Each child has an account they can access from school and home. The games are set up to match the need of each individual child and moves them along the program. Children should spend time on TTRockstars each week to develop their skills.
Then please encourage your child to complete as many of the activities from the year group menu as they like at home, but NO LESS than 3 over the half term. This can be recorded (if appropriate) in our homework books.

We expect pupils to complete as many of the activities from the homework menus as they can, however no less than 3 per half term, 1 every 2 weeks. We will ask for homework books in every 2 weeks in order for us to share and celebrate this learning (you will receive a text to remind you). A new menu will be available at the start of each term. Homework can be done as and when you get time and offers some choice to your child too!
Homework books with a homework menu for this term have been sent out and children are expected to complete at least 1 R.E. activity and a minimum of 2 other topic activities, they can choose which activities they complete. This is alongside completing weekly spellings and MyMaths homework.
When homework is set on TTRS, sections will be greyed out so they can't access anything other than their homework. A headphone symbol will appear which tells them how many games have been completed out of the amount set.
Welcome to our class page. Over the year, we will use this page to capture snapshots of our fantastic learning, progress and experiences - so keep checking in for updates! If you ever have any questions or would like to learn more, please get in touch with our class team (Mrs Ash - Teacher, Mrs Stockley - TA and Mrs Fairbairn - Teacher on Fridays) who would be very happy to help. 1e1e36bf2d
The concept of the homework menu for fifth graders is a brilliant strategy to enhance student engagement in learning. Being well-versed in academia, I understand the value of organized methods like this, particularly when juggling multiple responsibilities such as completing nursing assignment writing. Customized solutions have a significant impact on supporting productivity and concentration.
